Dangerous Goods

Air Link does not carry dangerous goods of any kind either as customer baggage or as cargo.

Customers must not permit the following to be carried as either checked baggage or cabin baggage:

  • Compressed gases (e.g. refrigerants, gases such as butane, aqualung cylinders, liquid nitrogen, oxygen)
  • Infectious substances (e.g. live virus cultures, bacterial strains)
  • Corrosive substances (e.g. acids, alkalines, mercury, wet cell batteries)
  • Flammable liquids or solids (e.g. fuel of any kind, matches (except safety matches), paints, thinners)
  • Explosives (e.g. firearms, ammunitions, fireworks, flares, toy cap guns)
  • Radioactive and magnetised materials
  • Oxidising materials (e.g. bleach, peroxide)
  • Poisons (e.g. weedkillers, insecticides, arsenic, cyanide)
  • Dead animal matter
  • Live animals (except under prior agreement)
  • Weapons of any type (e.g. knives, box cutters, any item confiscated by airport security)
  • Items the carriage of which is prohibited by the applicable laws, regulations or orders.

Customers may take onboard the following in limited quantities:

  • Alcoholic beverages (up to 5L), perfumes and colognes (up to 2L in total).
  • Medicinal or toiletry products including aerosols such as hair sprays and deodorant for personal use (up to 2kg or 2L in total, with no single canor container exceeding 500g or 0.5L).
  • With the approval of the Company, small oxygen cylinders for medicinal use and small carbon dioxide gas cylinders worn to power mechanical limbs.
  • Safety matches and certain lighters carried on the person. They must not be packed in Checked baggage.

REMEMBER IF YOU TAKE DANGEROUS GOODS ON BOARD, EVEN INADVERTENTLY, YOU MAY BE LIABLE TO PROSECUTION AND A JAIL TERM.

If there is any doubt about what may be carried on board the aircraft, the Passenger must request more information form the Company before commencing travel. Friearms and weapons of any description are prohibited in the cabin of any Aircraft. Passengers shall not tender dangerous goods or potentially dangerous goods for Carriage as baggage. The Complany may destroy, abandon and/or retain as evidence any such goods.

FIREARMS

Firearms must be carried in checked baggage and cannot be carried in the cabin of an Aircraft. Firearms will be returned to you personally by staff at the destination.

Passengers travelling with firearms are to inform Air Link beforehand.

When travelling with a firearm, the following requirements must be met:

  • The firearm is to be carried in a locked case or bag
  • The firearm is to be unlocked
  • If a firearm has a bolt, the bolt is to be removed

No more than 5kg of ammunition (per passenger) is to be carried. Ammunition must be packed in the manufacturers packaging. AFP Officers and ADF personnel travelling on duty may carry ammunition in no more than 2 magazines plus boxed ammunition to a total wieght of no more that 5kg. All ammunition must be packed in a locked bag or case and checked-in for carriage in the baggage compertment.

The firearm and ammunition must be declared to Air Link staff.

A valid firearm/shooters licence must be produced at check-in and at the destination to collect the firearm. (Police and ADF identification is suitable when carrying non-private firearms).

Junior Shooters

Minors carrying firearms must produce thier firearms/shooters licence AND must be accompainied by and adult at check-in and the destination who must also produce a firearms/shooters licence.
